The Professional Farm Management Accounting (PFMA) System was originally developed in 1988. At that time it was a DOS based system (this was one of the original personal computer operating systems). Although the first version of Microsoft Windows was released in November 1985, it was not yet the common personal computer operating system like it is today. PFMA was converted to the Windows platform in 2004 and renamed PFMA for Windows. Several Farm Management firms in the midwest have used the system over the years. Although not actively marketed for some time, Kevin Ritter (the original developer) has worked with existing users to continue to maintain and enhance the software. Since retiring from his regular day job, he is now able to devote more time to marketing and enhancing PFMA for Windows. Rittersoft, LLC was founded in 2024 for the purpose of marketing, supporting and continued enhancement of PFMA for Windows.
